270 Climbing Park near Cheltenham announce opening date
270 Climbing Park has one of the tallest high ropes courses in Europe and will be open from Saturday, April 8.
The project has been funded by The European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, LEADER Funding Programme and Forest and Tewkesbury Borough.
The former Bentham Country Club, situated between Cheltenham and Gloucester on the edge of the Cotswolds, has been completely transformed into an exciting adventure centres for all ages and abilities.
Due to a number of delays and escalations in manufacturing and construction costs the activity park will be opening in phases.
The first phase has seen the completion of the soaring six-tier high ropes course and 22m activity tower with a zip line, a freefall and leap of faith jumps!
This rope course is one of the highest in Europe and encompasses 60 challenging obstacles across six different levels which range from easy to very hard.
Some levels have multiple routes to choose from including a 14m high racecourse where you can race head-to-head with a friend or against the clock.
Phase 2 will see the introduction of a bouldering gym and fun climbing facilities later on in year.
Phase 3 will see the development of the main climbing arena as well as other exciting facilities next year.
David Stevens, director of 270 Climbing Park, said: “It’s been a long time coming, and yes there’s still a while to go yet.
“Some parts of the park may look like a building site for a little longer yet, we’re fully aware that the park won’t look it’s best until the redevelopment is further down the line.
“With all the setbacks and the rise in costs, the phasing in of the different activities and elements has become necessary and feels like the sensible thing to do in the current climate.
