Testing the Best Sleeping Bags for Camping

I’ve been camping and backpacking for decades, and have spent my fair share of nights uncomfortably cold in a too-thin synthetic sleeping bag. Conversely, I’ve also crawled out of my bag entirely after waking up overheated and sweaty. I used that knowledge to call in and assess sleeping bags from some of the biggest names, including Kelty, Marmot, Stone Glacier, Klymit, and Sierra Designs.
